R-Slip Rating According to DIN 51130 Standards
DIN 51130 is a rigorous German slip resistance standard used to evaluate the slip-resistant properties of wall and floor tiles. The R-slip rating is stringently tested on an oil-coated ramp with an increasing angle of inclination, based on the principle: the higher the R-value, the greater the friction and slip resistance.
Currently, Vietceramics' slip-resistant tile collections offer a diverse range of classifications from R9 to R13, providing optimal and safe solutions tailored to each specific area and the specialized requirements of every project.
- R9: With a subtly textured surface, these matt floor tiles are suitable for low-slip-risk areas such as living rooms and bedrooms, minimizing the risk of accidental falls.
- R10: For dry zones of bathrooms, kitchens, and moderately humid areas, slip-resistant tiles with high grip serve as the optimal solution to protect the whole family, especially the elderly and children.
- R11: These slip-resistant tiles are suitable for both dry and wet environments, applicable for residential indoor areas like bathrooms, kitchens, and pool surrounds, as well as commercial spaces including lobbies and restaurant kitchens.
- R12: With this slip resistance rating, tiles can be installed in residential areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, and hallways, or in commercial spaces ranging from public restrooms, swimming pools, and changing rooms to hotel corridors, shopping malls, airports, and parking lots.
- R13: This is the recommended rating for areas constantly exposed to water with high slip hazards, such as swimming pool surrounds, spas, saunas, and commercial kitchens.
P-Slip Rating According to AS 4586 Standards
AS 4586 is an Australian standard that assesses the slip resistance of tile surfaces under wet conditions (both dry and wet residential environments).
This index is determined using the Wet Pendulum Test, which releases a free-swinging pendulum arm fitted with a rubber slider that mimics a human heel sweeping across a water-wetted tile surface. The frictional force that retards the pendulum's swing is recorded and directly converted into classifications from P0 to P5, precisely determining the safety level for each area of the project.
Currently, Vietceramics' slip-resistant tile collections offer a diverse range of classifications from R9 to R13, providing optimal and safe solutions tailored to each specific area and the specialized requirements of every project.
- P1: Representing a low level of slip resistance, these tiles feature a smooth, sleek surface and are typically used for wall cladding.
- P2: Providing a basic level of slip resistance, these are suitable for flooring in dry areas such as living rooms, bedrooms, and home offices.
- P3: Possessing moderate slip resistance, these can be installed in areas with medium humidity or occasional light wetness, such as hallways, residential kitchens, or lobby entrances.
- P4: Offering high slip resistance in wet environments constantly exposed to water with a high risk of slipping, these are ideal for bathrooms, pool surrounds, or outdoor pathways directly exposed to rainwater.
Selecting wall and floor tiles with the appropriate slip resistance rating not only guarantees aesthetics but also brings a safe living space to your entire family.
